Lately I've been pondering on the undeniable value of a good night of sleep. Since Joshua was born almost 8 months ago, sleep has been somewhat of a luxury. Actually, "sleeping through the night" has gained a different meaning EVERY MONTH since then. Sometimes Joshua manages to sleep for 11 hours straight. Other times he decides that he needs some kind of attention every 2-3 hours. And LATELY, Joshua has been consistently getting up at 2:00am to just... PLAY! Yes, PLAY!
Anyway, no matter how much or how little my baby sleeps at night, there is something about having him take an afternoon nap that I can't explain. Maybe because during the day I yearn for a few minutes of productive, "just mommy" time. It's nice to be able to take a long shower, or have an extended time with the Lord, reading the Word and praying.
Such afternoon naps are almost NON-EXISTANT these days...
HOWEVER, I'm an SOOOO thankful that Joshua faithfully takes a nap on SUNDAY AFTERNOONS! Maybe because he gets super overloaded with attention at church. He gets A LOT of attention from our church family. Everyone wanting to hold him, get a smile from him, or simply let him know how handsome he is. Well, today, after a weekend with my in-laws in town, it was time for Joshua to settle down and get some rest. But this time, instead of using his nap time to get some things done, I decided to lay down next to him in our guest bedroom and nap, too. It felt SO GOOD!!!
I wish I had a photo of us (Joshua, me, and my husband), all napping peacefully in our guest bedroom. :)
Looking forward to this coming week...
HC Thank You Cards??
Some of you have asked me WHERE I got my Thank You cards. Funny you asked...
Last night I decided to take some pictures of these, as I prepared another order shipment:
So, WHERE do I get them?
One day I was cleaning my nightstand drawers and I saw some of these:
PAINT CATALOGS!!
Yes, when my husband and I bought our house, we decided we wanted to paint our bedroom a different color. Well, that was over 2 years ago and the painting project never happened. But I kept the catalogs. So, when I found them, I remembered how pretty the pictures were (the reason WHY I kept them!). I thought to myself, "WHAT should I do with these?" And... the rest is history. I decided to re-use them for my Helen's Corner shop THANK YOU notes.
SO, next time you get one of THESE
... you will know WHERE they came from :)
God BLESS you!!
Helen
Random Tuesday...
After a busy weekend... comes a busy Monday. For those who don't know, I work part-time as an Adolescent Chemical Dependency counselor and Mondays are my "full" day at work. I enjoy sharing life and worshipping God on Sundays with my church family, and sometimes those are some of the few times I get to have some adult conversations :) But then comes Monday. As much as I enjoy and appreciate what I do with my clients at work, I wake up wanting to stay home with Joshua...
How can you resist this face?
But today is Tuesday and I get the ENTIRE day with him! :) This morning as I was nursing and praying for him, it occurred to me that he won't be a tiny baby forever. My mind started wandering off to his adolescent days... when my biggest worry won't be "will he take a nap today?" but cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, heart breaks, bullies, sports injury, grades, or pure rebellion. Hmmm... stop, Helen! And enjoy today!
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:33-34
So... as Joshua takes his morning nap, I am rejoicing in God's faithfulness. And as my favorite Psalm reminds me, "You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Psalm 16:11. I have so much to learn as a mom and wife. But one thing I know. I can rest assured that He knows me, and His presence fills me with joy. Amen?
Have a blessed Tuesday!

My newly found appreciation for color... and FABRIC!
I am certainly not the best seamstress out there. I confess. But one does not need to even know how to sew to appreciate the richness of color, textures, designs, and "flavor" of the many fabrics that are out there. I am very new to this whole sewing world, and I must also admit that I'm very novice when it comes to knowing my fabric designers.
But today I'm going to write solely on what I've been able to find at my local fabric store... you know.. the big chain fabric store :) Here's a small glimpse of my young collection:

The colors are so pretty!! I had to stop browing through the store, otherwise I could have easily gotten three times as much fabric! Today I had a few minutes of peace while Joshua was playing in the basement. So I decided to put together my own burpcloths. I've seen them for sale all over Etsy, and I thought to myself, "I can make that!"
So, here it is! I'm inspired to make more of these...
So, needless to say, I need to start using my fabrics on something. Any ideas??
From one blog to another...
Seriously... nothing wrong with Wordpress, but I really needed to have something easier and faster to use. So... while I try to figure out how to transfer my posts from there to here, here is the link to that "old" blog.
